The Higashiyama hot spring resort is one of legendary hot springs, which are told to be found by a buddhist monk Gyoki together with Kusatsu,Yoshina, Yamanaka,Yamashiro and Rendaiji in the Ten-pyo Era(740 a.d). Since then,it has been known as one of the best hot springs in the Oou District,i.e.Higashiyama,Kaminoyama and Yunohama. |

This is the fact that Mukaitaki was already the designated hot spring by the lord in such an old time. In 1873,the ownership of Mukaitaki Inn was first transferred to a private family. Since that time,Mukaitaki Inn has been managed by the Hiratas. |
